The IEST community is saddened by the passing of George G. Olear II, Saturday, June 6, 2015.
George had been an active member of IEST since 1985, serving as the President of IEST from 1998 to 1999. He was also the President and Treasurer of the Boston Chapter and a National Director.

George graduated from Cheshire Academy, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), and Providence College, and worked as an independent consultant.

George was always someone you could count on to discuss new ideas. He was very practical, and willing to help where he could. His humor was always tactful and I will miss his serious side too, which many times made you think twice about whatever the discussion point may have been. It was a pleasure to know George and I am sure he will be in the prayers and thoughts of many of us.

I too am saddened by George’s passing. I have not seen him for a few years but I will miss his quick wit and passion.

George is proof positive of the intrinsic value of professional society involvement. I have known George since 1985 and have benefited personally and professionally from our friendship. He will be sorely missed!
